Field Trip Report

INTRODUCTION
          As per the B.Ed curriculum H.K.M B.Ed Students has conducted the field trip on 26-Oct-2017 to Padmanabhapuram Place, Thripparappu Water Falls, Neyyar Dam and Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation  Centre. A field trip is a visit to an area outside of the normal classroom where students can try new things have different experience and learn valuable life lessons .A field trip to different location provides hand on opportunities in a wide variety of experience .Our field trip/visit required a bus ride to a different towns. It also provide a new experience to the student .The field trip provide a unique opportunities for  learning that are not available within the four walls of a classroom .It provide a memorable and positive experience to student.

OBJECTIVES
To acquire the knowledge about planning and organizing a field trip.
To get valuable educational opportunities away  from the classroom.
To enhance the sense of community and help to be an active citizen.
To get a real world experience.
Inorder to get a break up from the routine activities.
To get a bonding with the classmates.





PLANNING
Planning is an important aspects in all activities. Planning is the process of deciding in advance what to be done, When to be done, how to be done, who to be done etc .
For the field trip also we had need an effective planning. We had taken two or three weeks time for planning. First of all we had decide place for the field trip ie. Padmanabhapuram Place, Thripparappu Water Falls, Neyyar Dam ,Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation  Centre and Tottilpalam due to the time lack of time and bad climate we had droped tottilpalam. Then we had decided the date and time after considering various factors we decide 27-oct-2017 as the adequate time and to start the trip at morning 6.O Clock and expected to reach at 10.PM. The planning was done by the student with the guidance of the teachers. After getting sanction from the higher authorities we had arranged the bus and food from the proper place.
After fixing the above said activities we had decide the amount to collect from the students the    amount is Rs.700/-.After finishing these activities informed the students and teachers to reach the college at 5.30AM on 27-Ooct-2017.










EXECUTION
  On 27th October 2017 morning 5.30 Am all the students and teachers had reached the college at sharp 6.30 . We had start the journey after completing the routine tour procedures from the H.K.M College and reached the college at 10.30 and dispersed with a enjoyed and refreshed mind.

KOTTUR KAPPUKADU ELEPHANT REHABILITATION CENTRE
We had reached at 8.30Am and spent upto .AM .From time immemorial elephants have been an integral part of the history, tradition, myth and culture of India and Kerala in particular. One cannot imagine a festival in Kerala without the presence of an elephant. Flanked by the water of the Neyyar reservoir and the moist deciduous forest and grass lands, the Elephant Rehabilitation Centre at Kottur spreads over 56 hectares and is surrounded by trenches to keep wild animals at bay. This provides enough space for all the elephants accommodated here. One of the major highlights of the centre is the chain-free life these mammals enjoy. Freedom to roam that too in well protected vicinities is something unique to this Centre. For the sick and injured elephants the centre is almost like an orphanage or retirement home. 30 elephants can be accommodated within this comfortable zone at a time and they are looked after by a team of experts. We had seen the elephants are bathed and fed. The elephants are fed with cooked rice and jaggery made in to the shape of balls. It is quite amazing to watch mahouts feeding the elephants. Visitors are allowed to go near and enjoy this wonderful spectacle. More than that we had seen a musthed elephant there. In that place boating services is also provided we all has enjoyed boating in lake. Let a small elephant are cared in that place to give training named “Meenakshi”





NEYYAR DAM
After half an hour drive we reached Neyyar  Dam.it is a wonderful place .We are able to see all the shutter were open with a great fall. A beautiful lake and a picturesque dam site, Neyyar is the heaven for tourists who search for some serenity and isolation. A Tour to Neyyar Dam will refreshed our mind with beautiful surrounding. The dam is a part of the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary which is the home of unique species of flora and fauna. From wild boars and elephants to the vast range of medicinal herbs Neyyar is truly a nature lover’s paradise. The Neyyar Dam gets its name from the Neyyar River. A Tour to Neyyar Dam will reveal more about these unique species of plant and animal life.The major tourist attraction near Neyyar Dam is its wildlife sanctuary which has a number of tourist attractions are Crocodile Park, Lion Safari Park, Deer Park etc. This place provide an wonderful experience to us with nature along with that we had celebrate one of our classmate Birthday. After spend 1 ½ hours there we had stared our journey to historic place

PADMANABHAPURAM  PALACE
After a  long drive we had reached Padmanabhapuram Palace at 3.30.PM. This palce provide a wonderful experience to us through a drive to our history. This masterpiece of indigenous Kerala architecture is located at Thuckalay, on the way to Kanyakumari. The wooden palace is well maintained and its murals, fabulous floral carvings and black granite floor continue to astound all who view it to this day. It leaves all who are in its presence with a sense of wonder and pride. The interiors are beautiful relics with intricate rose carvings and sculptured decor. It has many murals dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The mahogany musical bow, windows of colored mica, royal chairs with carvings from the Far East and the great 'Thaikkottaram', the Queen
Mother’s palace with painted ceilings, all add a unique mysticism to the entire place. The another amazing aspect Durbar Hall with its shiny black floor made of a combination of egg white, jaggery, lime, burnt coconut, charcoal and river sand is a rare architectural feat. The place also has secret underground passages, the famous medicinal bed in the King’s bedroom, mural paintings, pictures of Lord Krishna, a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, open air swimming baths, fish carvings and hanging brass lanterns that have been continuously lit since the 18th century. This palace dates back to 1601 C.E. and is a true testament to the resilience and perseverance of the land and our ancestors.
We had spend almost 1 ½ hours there then we start our journey to the last destination.



TIRPARAPPU WATERFALLS
At 5.30PM we reached Tirparappu Waterfalls.It is a wonderful experience to us.Due to heavy rainfall it was overflowing but it is fantastic. This water falls is one of the most popular falls in the Southern Tamil NaduThe waterfall is made by  Kodayar River located in Kanyakumari district the river flows from  Pechiparai Dam. The whole bed above the falls is one rocky mass which extends up to a distance of about quarter of a kilometre upstream where the famous Thirparappu weir has been constructed for supplying water to the paddy fields.

On either side of the river, on the left bank of the river in between the water falls and the weir, there is a temple dedicated to Siva enclosed by strong fortification. In this palce a swimming pool is constructed recently by Government for training the children in swimming. At 6.30Pm we entered in the bus and journey back to our college with beautiful memories and awesome experience

EVALUATION
From the field trip conducted, the students are able to plan and organize a trip/tour program in an effective manner. This field trip help us to develop a close relationship between students and teachers. As a commerce student we are able to develop our management skill like coordinating and planning. This field trip help us to visit different place and able to understand scope of tourism and its developmental programs in different place. We are able to conduct a study about different tourist sport. The Padmanabhapuram palace help us to know more about our historical aspect and remaining about our history.

FOLLOW UP
As the part of follow up of the field trip the student and teacher shared their own personal experience about the field trip. All of them are able to enjoyed and utilize the field trip in maximum. They are able to attain their  objectives of field trip. This field tripisit provide an one hand experience to students in all aspects.
